To The Daily Sun,
Maggie Goodlander has taken a page straight out of Hillary Clinton's playbook. Much like Clinton purchasing a home in New York just before running for Senate, Goodlander rented a property in Nashua only after deciding to run for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd District. Though Goodlander doesn’t need to live in the district to run, her move is clearly more about optics than authenticity.
It’s not surprising that Goodlander might follow in Clinton’s footsteps since they’re close friends, with Hillary attending Goodlander's wedding to Jake Sullivan, Joe Biden's national security advisor and the architect behind the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Their similarities don’t stop at personal connections as they both leverage high-profile allies and political elites while making strategic decisions that feel more calculated than rooted in community engagement.
For New Hampshire independents who value authenticity and local ties, Goodlander's decision to rent in Nashua, while still owning a $1.2 million home in Portsmouth (outside the district she’s running for), looks like nothing more than political maneuvering. Having spent the better part of two decades outside New Hampshire, her sudden reappearance feels less like a homecoming and more like a calculated step to further her political ambitions.
New Hampshire voters deserve someone who is truly invested in the community, not just checking boxes on a political checklist. Goodlander’s playbook may echo Clinton’s, but Granite Staters have every reason to question whether her loyalties lie more with the national elite than with the people she claims to want to represent.
