To The Daily Sun,Â
I urge all Gilford voters to vote yes on Article 29 on Tuesday, March 10. Article 29 very simply calls for Gilford to establish in the town an energy committee of volunteers who would look into ways that the town and residents can save money on energy.
This committee will cost taxpayers nothing and potentially save tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, which helps hold down our property taxes.
This committee will take work off the backs of our already busy selectboard, who do not have the time to become experts in energy.
This committee will provide expert advice to the selectboard on how Gilford might make changes to its energy usage to save money.
And yes, there is energy expertise in Gilford, and yes, several people with this expertise have expressed interest in joining such a committee.
So vote yes on Article 29 and save a few bucks.
