Lakes Region professionals share career experience, tips with ILHS students

Inter-Lakes Middle High School students have the opportunity to expand their learning by attending the J. Oliva Huot Technical Center in Laconia or the Winnisquam Career Center in Tilton as part of their regular school day. After meeting with Career Education staff, students are invited to tour the facilities to view a range of career, technical, and trade pathways. Program areas include, but are not limited to biotechnology, automotive technology, plumbing & heating, culinary arts, digital media, law enforcement, cosmetology, animal care & management, and agriculture. To give students a real-world look at these careers, Career Partnership Director Melisa Moore organized a panel of local professionals to share their experiences. Panelists came from The Black Tie Group, The Common Man Family of Restaurants, Empire Beauty School, Laconia Parks & Recreation, Melissa Neal Photography, and Southridge Electrical. Students heard about the panelist’s educational background, career path, and what a typical workday looks like. They also learned about the rewards and challenges of each career and walked away with valuable insights and a greater understanding of the pathways available to them. The Career Partnership Program is a collaborative effort between the Greater Meredith Program and the Inter-Lakes School District to bring students and business together in meaningful ways.
