To The Daily Sun,

A Response to: "Mask craze can be classified as obsessive compulsive disorder"

I'm glad the writer wakes up everyday and you is happy, I'm sure that she means well, but I (among many others) draw the line when you make the decision to not wear a mask.

I'm sure that she is a lovely person and I'm trying to value that when she simply don't value you my life as an immune-compromised person, or my Father's. That's what she's saying when she makes the conscious decision to not wear a mask. She is sending a booming message that she doesn't care about the lives of others. I apologize if it seems over dramatic to make a big deal about masks, but you're right and I'm sorry if you think its dramatic.

I don't want to die young or say goodbye to my Father prematurely. I don't care if the chance is one in a billion in N.H. that you could contract the virus, if one has the ability to reduce that chance even more and they don't. Why? How are they arguing that because a mask is uncomfortable or because they want to be "free," they would rather take the odds and result in possibly killing someone. If you think a mask is uncomfortable, try intubation.

It took the U.S. 98 days to get to a million cases because of quarantine. Very recently, it took 15 days to get 3 to 4 million, one million cases in 15 days. The writer is single-handily contributing to that number. We're approaching 150,000 deaths and what do you think is going to happen with that number? We cannot reverse death. It's one thing to mind your business, but you have made it abundantly clear that you are sufficed with that number. Saying for people to "wake up," which, correct me if I'm wrong, is encouraging others to take off their masks. A non-mask wearer has made it known that you are okay with being an accessory to murder, but encouraging others to do it as well, how is that logical?

A prediction done from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation suggested that 33,000 deaths could be avoided if 95 percent of people wear masks, considering the damage already done. (source:https://arxiv.org/pdf/2004.13553.pdf) The rhetoric that we need to follow right now is the three W's: wear a mask, wash your hands, watch your distance. There is barely evidence that surface areas are the main contributor to transmission, whereas, a lot more evidence of transmission through water droplets from someone's cough, sneeze, or speech. If one does not believe basic statistics, I believe that they might be one with a mental disorder, but to accuse everyone else of having OCD is absolutely ludicrous, offensive, and tone deaf to people who actually suffer from that.

I know the writer has some concept of what's going on, considering how she expressed using hand-sanitizer, that is the bare minimum, do better. The truth is more uncomfortable than a mask.
