To The Daily Sun,

Moderate candidate for Senate District 2, Kurt Webber, challenges current Sen. Tim Lang. His background: Eagle Scout and 25 years a scout leader; Lakes Region Community College and NHTI professor (West Point Grad background); Gunstock Ski Patrol from 2001-2021; served on Gilford School Board; 23 years military service ― Airborne, Ranger, Green Beret; Iraq time done. His Patriotic Resilient Leader Institute hosts therapeutic retreats for military, first responders and their loved ones. Kurt Webber is both leader and humanitarian.

Citizens Count website (citizenscount.org) informs of Webber's positions. Standing out ― Tim Lang supports the Education Freedom Accounts that take public school dollars in school-damaging amounts and gives them to sometimes well-off families for private school or home schooling. Kurt Webber questions this giveaway that raises local property taxes (replacing the diverted funds) minus educational accountability. Solar energy and net-metering ― yes. Supports exploring the new, smaller nuke plants, a Kelly Ayotte position too, possibly shows Webber's openness to dialogue across the aisle. Better than Tim Lang, voting Republican, often with Free Staters.

For housing, Webber wants incentives for municipalities to relax zoning that interferes with new construction. Lang's position on housing availability ― nothing new. On this, Democratic governor candidate, Cinde Warmington, believes the executive council, considering appointees to the NH Housing Finance Authority, should seek commitment to affordable housing. Smart idea. Our Governor's Council, District 1, candidate Luz Bay, as a NH House member, supported the New Hampshire Housing Champion designation, "promoting workforce housing." Another smart idea.

Use Citizens Count ― check on candidates before Nov. 3 voting. Let's elect these problem-solvers.
