To The Daily Sun,
I would like to respond to Mr. Charles Bradley’s unfounded, conspiracy theories regarding the current coronavirus pandemic. He has no facts to support any of his accusations.
First of all, scientists, have examined the genetic material which makes up the coronavirus responsible for the current epidemic. They have concluded that it is highly improbable that it was “manufactured in a lab,” (read:https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus-not-human-made-in-lab.html) The genetic material from the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 is made from a combination of species, including a pangolin (which resembles an ant eater and is a known to be an Asian delicacy) and a bat (known to harbor many viruses that cause disease like rabies). The structure is unlike other coronaviruses that have caused diseases in humans. Computer models have predicted that the virus could only have developed through natural selection, not in a laboratory.
Another issue I take issue within his letter, is calling this epidemic a “virus derangement syndrome.” Tell that to the 60,000 Americans, and their families, that have died from this virus in just under six weeks. If you had read my other letter from April 17 the Laconia Daily Sun, if no social distancing had been done at the start of this pandemic, we could have expected over eight million American deaths. President Trump has predicted over 100,000 deaths since that was the number of “body bags the he ordered for the month of April.
Furthermore, Dr. Anthony Fauci has been the director of the N.H. since 1984. He has been studying pandemics caused by viruses longer than most Trump supporters have been Republicans. He has been the director of this science-driven institute through both Democratic and Republican administrations including part of Ronald Reagan’s administration. This “Deep State “ theory is nonsense and not proven by any actual knowledge of how the Amercian government is actually run.
Finally, I do not believe any of the politicians and pundits that you ascribe to at the end of your letter. Gordon Chang predicted that China's economy would collapse by 2012. As one academician reported, “Chang’s predictions collapse under his own credibility” (made by Shen Dingi, director of the Denter for American studies at Fudan University in shanghai China). Enough said.
