Maria Cantor: Vote Kamala Harris, who owes nothing to Vladimir Putin

To all those who believe that Donald Trump cares the least bit about the American people, please justify how as president he secretly sent COVID-19 tests that were in such dire need here the U.S. to none other than Russian president and our longtime adversary and murderous dictator, Vladimir Putin. It is outrageous that he would put Putin ahead of hundreds of Americans who were dying on a daily basis in the early days of the pandemic.

This action by Trump is not a lie or "conspiracy" — it now has been confirmed by the Kremlin. He sent Putin a bunch of COVID test machines for his personal use. There can be no question that Trump owes Putin. It is outrageous that Trump believes Putin over our own military and intelligence leaders. He puts Putin ahead of all of us Americans.

Anyone who believes that Trump somehow cares for them is gravely mistaken. He cares only for himself and is seeking re-election so he can stay out of jail. He has always been about himself long before he became president. Ask all the laborers who did work at his casinos and weren't paid. Ask the people who donated money to "build the wall" and had their money used for Steve Bannon's personal benefit instead, an illegal fraudulent act for which he is now serving prison time.

Anyone who lost a loved one to COVID should be even more outraged by Trump's action. Trump owes something to Putin, there can be no doubt about it. And that puts all of us and our national security at great risk. Trump cannot come close to the Oval Office again. If voters love this country and our democracy — there is only one choice for their vote: Kamala Harris — who owes nothing to Putin.
