To The Daily Sun,

For many Granite Staters — especially in rural towns — the U.S. Postal Service isn’t just a convenience, it’s a lifeline. That’s why Sen. Maggie Hassan is working across the aisle to introduce a bipartisan resolution that protects the independence of the Postal Service and opposes any attempt to privatize it.

Let’s be clear: privatization would put profits over the people. It would mean slower service, higher costs, and in some cases, no service at all for the rural communities that rely mostly on timely mail, whether it’s for prescriptions, paychecks, or simply staying connected.

The Postal Service is one of the few truly universal institutions we all count on. It doesn’t run on taxpayer dollars, it runs on trust, reliability, and service. Sen. Hassan’s resolution sends a strong message: the Postal Service should work for all Americans, not for corporate shareholders.

New Hampshire deserves a postal system that puts people first and Sen. Hassan is standing up to keep it that way.
