Marc Forgione: Ward 4 council candidate introducing himself to Laconia

To The Daily Sun,

My name is Marc Forgione. I am running for City Council Ward 4 and would like to introduce myself to my neighbors and fellow citizens of Laconia who may not know me.

A graduate of Laconia High School class of 1985 and a Navy veteran, I had a 30-year career in the printing industry and am now involved in the electronics industry. I lived in California for about 10 years, but came back to NH to start a family and am now a father of three. I have been married to my lovely wife Denise for six years. I have lived most of my life in Laconia and am a NH native.

My involvement in many community organizations throughout the years, such as Laconia Little League and the Belmont Baseball Organization as an assistant coach, Lakes Region Flag Football as a coach and referee, the Boy Scouts of America as a leader, and the Friends of Belmont Football as one of the founding Board Member, was mainly part of being a supportive father to my children. I've always been one of those parents (sometimes to my children's embarrassment) who couldn't just sit and watch. My involvement in other organizations along the way, such as being a Board Member for the Leavitt Park Community Volunteers and being a 12-year member of Lakes Region Vineyard Church, were for my own sense of well being and the desire to serve my community.

I come from a middle-class family and consider myself to be the same. I guess the importance of that is that I was raised to have a good work ethic in order to be “supportive” of anything I loved, and that sometimes when I couldn’t be financially supportive, I could take action and get involved by volunteering my time. That value still rings true today.

I have observed many changes in the City of Laconia over the years … some good, some bad, but I will always value the place where I was raised. That sense of pride in my community is at the heart of why I am taking action now.

My idea of serving this community is to be more involved. My approach to this position will be one of common sense and based on the values my constituents. My hope is that you will choose me to be your voice.
