Marc Abear: Government has chosen to leave southern border open, anyone can come in, no questions asked

Mr. Victor Martinez-Hernandez is an illegal alien from San Salvador who crossed our southern border unvetted in February 2023. He made his way from El Salvador, to Los Angeles, to Maryland, to Tulsa, murdering people, mostly women, as he went.

He was on the run from El Salvador after murdering a woman. He traveled to the U.S. border; falsely claimed asylum and nobody asked him hard questions. Team Biden waved him through.

Less than a month later in Los Angeles he broke in a home; brutally beat a woman, assaulted her 9-year-old daughter, leaving DNA evidence.

Six months later he turned up in Maryland where Rachel Morin was walking on a hiking trail. He grabbed her, raped her, and killed her. She is the mother to five children.

Both cases, LA and Maryland, remained unsolved until police used DNA evidence to track down the family of the suspect in El Salvador. With a name and electronic data they found him in Tulsa.

He’s been arrested and charged with murder and rape. More charges are likely. Authorities believe Martinez-Hernandez likely killed others in his travels.

Our federal government has chosen to leave our southern border open. Anyone can come in; no questions asked. That’s not going to change; that’s clear. Whatever the reasons; people are dead because of their inaction.

American women and mothers like Rachel Morin or Laken Riley are targets. There will be more and there are others. It is due to the Biden administration’s intentional mishandling of the border, this man killed and raped women here.

The White House has authority to regain operational control of the border. It is an intentional choice, not to. There is a lesson here. The Riley and Morin families can articulate it. It’s what they are doing; it’s not about what they intend.
