Lynn Rudmin Chong: Mass Rep. Jim McGovern is a reasoning hero

To The Daily Sun,

Not all Republicans are living out Donald J. Trump's ego-driven plot to take down democracy. The good ones in our D.C. government are retiring out of office or "being primaried" by our fealty-demanding (king-like) president. Meanwhile, good Democrat, neighbor in Massachusetts, Rep. Jim McGovern exposes the lame accusation now coming out of our semi-wrecked White House that Democrats are "communists."

Who is communist if not the party that "worships one man above the Constitution?" The Republicans who ally with Trump call the free press "enemy of the people and sic the Justice Department on journalists they don't like." These are communist tactics right out of Russia. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump can shake hands on many anti-democracy practices. Now Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua is joining that club, who don't like, won't allow fair and free elections. Just read that in the July 22 Wall Street Journal. Of course, in typical communist-style rhetoric that masks deprivation with pleasant words, Trump labels his anti-fair-elections bill with the name, "Save America Act."

From Rep. Jim McGovern this summer: Democratic Party ideals are to love this country "enough to fight for it," fighting to make it easier to afford rent, medical care, childcare, food. "We will not be lectured by a fascist Republican Party that offers American people nothing but lies, fear, endless culture wars, and tax breaks for billionaires." Add to his, now, my words: an unnecessary war that comes of DJT's ego-need, and is extremely costly to us all in terms of money, lives, international respect gone down the tubes.
