Lynn Rudmin Chong: Fellow writer's letters enjoy dilly dallying around truth

Writer Jim Mayotte loses when criticizing non-Trump-dictated news reporting. Unimportant stories in mainstream media? My Aug. 2 New York Times headlines: "Trump Pushing Out Labor Data Chief," her facts disputing his lies. A tariff trade "Is Put to the Test," including "tariffs [are] starting to bleed through to consumer prices." An article on the helicopter and commercial plane crash in D.C. on Jan. 29, and final conversations in the army helicopter, showing "the Army's unreliable technology in the aging helicopter likely giving the pilots a misleading sense of their altitude." Far afield from the non-stories Mayotte attributes to his targeted papers. 

In the Aug. 2, free Laconia Daily Sun, Mayotte could read reprints of serious NYT articles: "White House Unveils Plan for $200 Million Ballroom, Trump's Long-Sought Imprint." Also: "Bacteria Causing Disease (Legionnaire's) Found in 22 New Yorkers." Front page there is important, too: need to "Combat 5 invasive species stealing nutrients, habitats" in our Lake Winnipesaukee, adeptly written by a local reporter.

Dumping on mainstream media, Mayotte brings up an American Eagle (TV) ad and a Dunkin' (TV) ad. Does he read? He does include that a non-Anglo-named candidate (Mayotte making googly-eyes over the name?), highly-qualified Zohran Mamdami, since 2021 a member of the New York State Assembly, has won his primary race as a Democrat, toward New York City mayoral status.

In our serious-news world, Mayotte promotes jokes and fun. With reported and photographed genocide in Gaza, including victims of Israeli bullets when family men try for food — let's honor the reported news of mainstream media.
