To The Daily Sun,
Trump administration paying El Salvador to imprison gang members. How much of our money is being spent on this crazy idea?
I just read an Associated Press news item on Donald Trump's call to impeach the federal judge that called for a stop to the deportation plans of Trump. Buried in that article was this paragraph: "The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 has been used only three times before in U.S. history, all during congressionally declared wars. Trump issued a proclamation that the law was newly in effect due to what he claimed was an invasion by the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. Trump's administration is paying El Salvador to imprison alleged members of the gang." We paid for the flight (round trip, I assume), the personnel on that flight, etc., etc. — how much money was spent on two plane loads to El Salvador despite a court order not to do it. And the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 can only be used in times of war — only Congress can declare war, not a presidential executive order. Not that I want those guys back here, but things must be done by the rule of law, or we are not the democracy we pretend to be or want to continue being. The rule of law and justice is what has gotten us and this country this far, let's not change that.
