LJ Schaffnit: Trump-led Republicans now ignoring objective truths

Apparently, desperate times call for desperate lies. Please excuse me for not using the more politically correct “misinformation,” but a lie by any other name is still a lie.

Although contributors to this forum may disagree with Tim Walz politically, he is not, nor has he ever been a “dyed-in-the wool Communist.” Walz has taught in China, visited the country on numerous occasions; organizing and conducting educational summer trips for high school students to learn and experience the Chinese culture, and honeymooned there with his wife. The claims and allegations of Walz’s relationship with the Chinese government are based on a House Oversight investigation which is desperately trying to manufacture any links between Walz and the Chinese Communist Party. Other than false allegations and conspiracy theories, the “weaponized” committee has produced little or no substantial information, no specific allegations, and Walz’s actions, by all indications, have shown he has not been influenced by any CCP propaganda or pressure.

Further efforts to malign Walz include false statements that he, “allowed fake rioters to destroy Minneapolis” during the George Floyd murder unrest in 2020. At the time of the riots, Donald Trump praised Walz’s response and agreed with how he handled it. “I fully agree with the way he [Walz] handled it the last couple of days.” He further state that Walz “dominated,” and praised his leadership as an example for other states to follow and characterized Walz as “an excellent guy.”

Republicans, led by Trump, are now ignoring objective truths and actively peddling their own distortions of reality (lies) to whatever suits their political interests.
