To The Daily Sun,

Here is a reminder for anyone who is committed to ensuring that terminations of employees from New Hampshire state government are conducted in accordance with the rules governing the NH personnel appeals board.

In the private sector, terminations are often characterized as resignations and settlement agreements are negotiated confidentially with non-disparagement clauses that prevent either party from discussing settlement terms.

By contrast, terminations of state employees are a matter of public interest and appeals of those terminations must be conducted in public meetings.

The press and those concerned with ensuring that veterans in the community are receiving proper care and financial resources will want to pay close attention to the recent termination appeal of Jennifer Doig, chief financial officer of the New Hampshire Veterans Home, to ensure the matter is heard in compliance with those rules. A public pre-hearing conference on this matter #2026-T-005 is scheduled for this Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 8:30 a.m. at the NH Public Employee Labor Relations Board, 2 1/2 Beacon St., Suite 200, Concord.
