To The Daily Sun,

Thanks to Newfound alumni Bears, faculty and friends for making the Blakeley-Mills Newfound Regional Scholarship Foundation’s “Donate Your Age” campaign the highest grossing fundraiser since the scholarship was formed in 2017.

The total raised in 2024 from 85 supporters was $18,845, and with the additional $10,000 matching funds brought the grand total raised to $28,845.

The Final Standing of the Class Challenge, which is the class with the greatest number of classmates either donating or having a donation made in their memory were:

First Place: Class of 1972

Second Place: Class of 1971

Third Place: Class of 1966

Note: The 2025 Class Challenge will change to be based on the highest percentage of classmates donating or a donation made in memory of a classmate. For example, if 15 classmates out of a class of 50 donate, the percentage would be 30%. If 15 classmates out of a class of 65 donate, the percentage would be 23% and this class would come in second place.

The scholarship foundation exists to offer scholarships and financial assistance to graduating high school students in the Newfound Regional High School with financial needs in order to pursue educational advancement through a technical school, apprenticeship and/or college. If readers would like to contribute, send a donation to P.O. Box 691, Bristol, NH 03220 or donate online at newfoundalumni.com.

Current board members are: Paul Berton, chair and president (class of 1972); Mary (Walker) Gallagher, treasurer (class of 1968); Alan Blakeley, assistant treasurer (faculty); Linda (Drake) Normandin, secretary (class of 1972); Dick Tapply (class of 1965); Earl Mills (faculty); Thomas Caldwell (class of 1971); and Lesley (Frame) McGowan (class of 1997).
