Linda Burnap: Supports Maura Sullivan in midterm elections

Eight months from the midterms, our district needs a proven leader — after researching and meeting candidates, Maura Sullivan stands out as clearly the best to fight for Granite Staters.

A Marine Captain who re-upped to serve in Iraq, Maura has never shied from tough fights — whether in Fallujah, confronting institutional failure at the VA after the deaths of veterans, or standing up to senior leaders in the Pentagon to defend women’s reproductive rights. She served as assistant secretary at the VA, she worked to improve care for the nine million veterans who rely on the system.

Her leadership is rooted in real-life experience: she earned college education by excelling scholastically on an ROTC scholarship while juggling three jobs, took on student debt, and knows what it means to worry about bills, housing and work. She’s spent her adult life in service and now offers to represent us in Washington.

Her Unrig Washington plan — banning corporate PACs, ending congressional stock trading, strict recusal rules, and barring financial criminals from office — aims to restore truth, respect, and accountability. She'll lower costs for healthcare, housing, and education so Granite Staters can afford stable homes, quality care, and a real chance to get ahead.

I've attended “Meet the Candidate” events, was deeply impressed with her, took notes, and spoke with her afterward — her answers and resolve convinced me she will fight for our communities, our rights and freedom.

I encourage readers to meet her in person — ask questions; her answers reveal an unwavering commitment they can both hear and feel. This election is about us — our communities, security, and future. Skills are much more important than name recognition. Maura served us well in the past, you can bet she'll do just that in the future, that’s why I’m proudly supporting her.
