Kenneth L. Bowers: President Biden ignores the real threats to democracy in speech

I listened to President Joe Biden speak to the nation in front of Independence Hall this month. I cannot remember any president during my lifetime speak in front of military personnel with a red background, as it seemed surreal. It is what I did not hear him say that drew my attention as President Biden made no reference to millions of people walking through the southern border, criminal activity where government buildings were being destroyed, parents being intimidated when they speak up regarding their schools, inflation out of control with the distinct possibility of a recession, energy shortages and threats from China. Apparently, President Biden sees no connection between these issues and American democracy. Instead he views conservative Americans as a threat to the country.

The threat in his mind is from within the American populace, which is a real shame. The country is being divided and driven by the current administration where Democrats are in control at every level. President Biden will realize that his own party will be his demise and not right-wing autocrats as he envisions it.
