To The Daily Sun,

For all readers worried about "criminal" immigrants in the U.S. consider Michael Fanone's reaction to his attackers being pardoned. On Jan. 6, 2021, rioters dragged police officer Michael Fanone down the Capitol steps, tasered him and beat him until he was unconscious. He suffered a heart attack, a concussion and a traumatic brain injury.

Fanone watched in horror as President Donald Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of hundreds who pled guilty and more found guilty of crimes against police officers by our legal system. This included the leaders of the extremist Proud Boys and Oath Keepers groups who were serving 22- and 18-year sentences respectively.

Fanone is now fearing even more for his safety and the safety of his family. In addition to him, Fanone's mother and daughters have all been attacked since Jan. 6, 2021. And now those criminals are roaming the streets. We should all be ashamed about how these police officers and other public servants have been treated as they did their job to protect and serve.
