It’s our money.
Before any supporters of President Donald Trump applaud him for threatening to withhold grant money from nonprofits and communities, think again. The money that comes to our communities in the form of grants is money that we — readers and I — have sent to Washington in the form of our taxes. When a municipality or nonprofit applies for a grant and it is awarded, it is because a good case has been made that some of our tax money should be returned to us to improve the life of our community and its citizens.
I can’t imagine why anyone would be OK with Washington holding on to every penny of our tax money. I shudder to think how that money, if kept, will be used. It certainly will not be to benefit the people of New Hampshire.
Please pay attention to the fox that wants to raid our chicken house. Speak out.
