To The Daily Sun,Â
The legal system is not fair. I fully agree with that statement 100%. However, not in this case. Judge Elizabeth Leonard did the right thing by letting Anthony Summers out on house arrest. Summers' blood alcohol content was much below the legal limit at 0.027. The legal limit is 0.08. God rest their souls. Unfortunately, the three other people involved in this accident were much over or over the legal limit. This is by law and a burden of real proof, not made up. Summers did the right thing by refusing a blood test for a few reasons. First one is when something tragically happens like the death of three people or even a simple accident. The last thing one is going to want to do is let someone stick a needle in them on the side of the road minutes or even hours after said incident takes place. Second is, when the cops provided a warrant for Anthony's blood, as the law states, he gave blood to, again, only find out he was well below the legal limit.Â
Also, I want to reiterate this, Judge Elizabeth Leonard is a fair and honest human being. She takes what she does very seriously. She has single-handedly changed people's lives. Also to the ones who prove they are ready and willing to change, who deserve it, gave them a second chance at life when the odds were against them and they were ready to give up on life altogether.Â
Now, again, these are the facts.Â
