John Demakowski: Progressives can't protect a Constitution they don't believe in

The issue of honesty in our elected officials: I hear people railing about President Donald Trump being a liar. I'm sure he does sometimes; but from my perspective, he is much more honest than most politicians out there. What I find hard to reconcile is a party that hails themselves as protectors of democracy then covers the infirmity of their president for years, knowing that he is failing they put him up as their candidate through their primary and elect him, then after they have elected him give him the boot and replace him with a candidate whom no voter voted for, and quite frankly could not have won if they had put her up in the primary. How indeed are they protecting our democracy?

Another thing I see progressives clamoring about is the Constitution. They claim they are protectors of our Constitution. How can that be so when they don't even believe in our Constitution? You don't believe me? Their whole worldview is at odds with the Constitution. How can they believe it? The Constitution was written from the Christian perspective that all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of god. Our founders were distrustful of man's tendency toward corruption. Thus they created a government with checks and balances in an attempt to mitigate the corrupting influence of power. They also have given us a Bill of Rights, which to be kind, not-so-righteous judges have too often mangled. Progressives by their very name don't hold to the foundational proposition that all men are sinners, to which our founders concurred; they think we are getting better as a people. Consequently, they believe the Constitution is obsolete.

These are indications of a deeper more troubling dishonesty as our elected officials vow to uphold our Constitution.
