To The Daily Sun,
At a recent press conference, Donald Trump said something that jarred me. Referencing one of the many women who have accused him of sexual assault, Trump said, "It didn't happen. She would not have been the chosen one."
"Chosen one" is an extraordinary phrase. It implies that he has the right to "choose" which woman to assault.
Words do matter. They are often windows into our inner selves.
Consider what we know from the public record about Trump's moral core:
- He has been unfaithful to his wives
- He has spoken about his daughter Ivanka's “voluptuous” body, fantasized publicly about dating her and when Howard Stern asked whether Ivanka could be described as a “piece of ass,” Trump replied “yeah.”
- He used his ownership of beauty pageants to invade the participants' dressing rooms when they weren't dressed
- He said of Jeffrey Epstein in 2002: “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do."
- He was recorded saying: “You know, I'm automatically attracted to beautiful ... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the p****. You can do anything.”
As citizens, we owe this country a few minutes of our time to evaluate the fitness of candidates for the highest office in the land (and not just the price of gas or bacon). Think of it as a form of self respect for ourselves and those that have sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
