Harold Sanford: Laconia residents must vote again to support Mike Bordes

I am offering another viewpoint on the service record of Mike Bordes. Politics is going to result in disagreements. While some may disagree with how I characterize his work, Rep. Bordes shows that he works to better the interests of the people of Laconia, as well as work in a bipartisan fashion.

In terms of the way he engages with the people of his constituency and leads, Rep. Bordes shows he will face tough issues in our community and stand up to represent our interests. Yes, one must be thick skinned for the job, but criticism should be done in a respectful way. As an example, how the Democrats keep bringing up him wearing jeans like almost every other resident of Laconia is laughable. This shows true pettiness.

How one views the record of Rep. Bordes regarding education and fiscal responsibility reflects how they understand what must be balanced at the Statehouse. Mr. Tom Washington must not have examined the record to come to the conclusions he does. One example Mr. Washington cites to illustrate that Rep. Bordes has “spent our tax dollars to pay for private school for rich kids” contradicts the fact that he voted against expanding access to the Education Freedom Accounts. He supports fiscal responsibility with a goal of promoting economic growth while minimizing the burden of taxes.

The environment, including the condition of our lakes, is something that everyone in the region must protect. Critiquing Rep. Bordes through the prism of other challenges is a failure to acknowledge that he must, as a single representative, advocate to protect our lakes and address the problems of water quality.

Mike Bordes understands what is needed in the Statehouse, as shown by his record. Laconia must vote for Mike Bordes.
