To The Daily Sun,
In her first 100 days, Gov. Kelly Ayotte prioritized road safety for all Granite Staters. The urgency of this issue, with the rising concerns about accidents and traffic dangers, cannot be overstated. She launched the Highway Safety Task Force, a collaborative effort that brings together law enforcement, transportation officials, and community leaders to address and make our roads safer.
The Task Force's primary objective is clear: to reduce the number of crashes and lives lost due to preventable issues such as speeding, drunk driving, and distractions behind the wheel. The heartbreak caused by texting while driving is of special importance to me. It's encouraging to see the governor taking a stand on this issue. We've witnessed far too many crashes on our roads, claiming far too many lives, particularly those of our young people.
Gov. Ayotte isn't waiting for the Task Force to issue recommendations to act. She's also supported public awareness campaigns around distracted driving and has the State Police doing more patrols to combat this danger. These efforts show that Gov. Ayotte is serious about protecting every driver and family on the road. Her leadership in this crucial area is greatly appreciated, and I am grateful for her bipartisan commitment to protecting us all.
Drive safely this summer.
