To The Daily Sun,
I’m Doug Robinson, your neighbor in Ward 5. I’m not a politician, but someone who believes in honest leadership, enforceable standards, and practical solutions. I’m running for city council because Laconia deserves more than rubber-stamped votes and insider politics. Voters deserve transparency, fiscal responsibility and honesty, a council that works for the taxpayer, not just with each other.
My opponent, Steve Bogert, is a strong voice on the council as seen at the Oct. 27 city council meeting. But too often, that voice echoes the majority. With monumental decisions ahead, readers need independent thinking, leadership that challenges the status quo and delivers results for taxpayers.
The State School redevelopment, affordable housing, homelessness, and attracting businesses with good-paying jobs, these issues demand more than talk. They require operational follow through. I’ve addressed these opportunities online and in print, and I’ve called out transparency concerns and the appearance of impropriety that too often clouds the council’s decisions.
I believe in mentorship with accountability, housing policy rooted in enforceable standards, and a city government that respects both legacy and innovation. I’ve spent my career solving problems in residential health care, retail, and logistics. I know how to manage risk, enforce policy, and deliver results.
This election isn’t about party or personality. It’s about whether voters want a council that listens, questions, and leads or one that nods along. I’m asking for their vote because I’ll fight for them, not just vote with the crowd.
Let’s bring honesty, transparency, and operational excellence back to Ward 5.
