Doug Robinson: Laconia needs leadership with integrity and accountability

I’m running for Laconia City Council in Ward 5 because our community deserves leadership built on integrity, transparency, and accountability. I believe in operational excellence, clear communication, and policies that balance compassion with financial responsibility. Our city faces real challenges — and we need practical solutions.

Whether it’s addressing homelessness, expanding affordable housing, making downtown, Lakeport, and the Weirs business friendly or getting Laconia out of the real estate business, I’m focused on outcomes that serve Laconia.

My professional background includes multi-unit management, vehicle logistics, and vendor oversight. I’ve successfully led capital projects, delivering them on time and on budget. I don’t just identify problems — I challenge systems to work better. And when they don’t, I bring solutions, not finger-pointing.

I’ve spoken with many readers across our city, and I’ve listened. I’ve called out gaps in nonprofit accountability and pushed for stronger collaboration. I’ve shown up — consistently and unapologetically — even when it meant challenging the idea that “this is just how things are done.” I’m plainspoken, direct, and outspoken on the issues that matter to readers and to me.

If elected, I’ll bring the same energy to the council chamber that I bring to every job and civic meeting: direct communication, rigorous follow-through, and a refusal to settle for “good enough.” I’ll fight for policies that protect our community and demand results from the systems meant to serve it.

Laconia needs fresh ideas. It needs results, and a new wave of leadership is stepping up for Laconia’s future.
