Don Ewing: Democrat candidates attack capitalism, promote socialism

Many Democrats slander capitalism and promote socialism with promises of free stuff that can’t be delivered after they squander (or steal) the wealth created by prior capitalist systems.

Capitalism is a moral system in which parties voluntarily exchange something each has for something the other wants more. Unless everyone’s satisfied, there’s no deal.

Under capitalism, competition forces more and better products and services. Consumers have millions of options of goods and services with varying prices, features, and qualities. A producer or seller can only prosper by providing things that people value more than what they pay for them.

Under socialism, government decides what products and services taxpayers can get, how many, the quality, and the prices, etc. They don’t get good products, services, and options because no one benefits from providing them.

We’ve repeatedly seen that socialist systems only deliver poverty, starvation, crime, and loss of freedom for most people; only people who control the guns, and their friends, get rich.

The American celebrities who effusively praised the socialist takeover of Venezuela went silent or denied their prior support when the socialist system’s results became obvious: millions of desperate people fleeing Venezuela. Readers would think people would flock to a utopia, but every socialist utopia produces the same results; socialism is an immoral system that people risk their lives to escape.

Have the billions of people who lived under socialism invented anything that readers enjoy daily? Everything we enjoy, e.g., cars, phones, TV, air conditioning, dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines, computers, internet, planes, etc. was created by capitalism.

Democrats don’t attack capitalism to improve life. Democrat politicians attack capitalism and promote socialism to buy votes with free stuff so they can control lives and take for themselves the rewards of hard work.
