To The Daily Sun,
I am writing in response to the distortions, misrepresentations and outright lies in John Curran's letter of Sept. 12.
First, the contract did not involve my husband. All negotiations were between me and Curran. My husband was not present when we arrived at our agreement. To imply that my husband had anything to do with negotiations is without basis and, in fact, a lie.
I was dissatisfied with the manner in which Curran performed the service I contracted for. Believing he had not performed in a workmanlike fashion, I asked him to return and cure his defective performance; he refused. I further offered to pay for any additional fuel if he would return and fix things — again he refused. All of this is well documented. Rather than sue Curran, I tendered him a portion, a very generous portion, given his pathetic performance. For the record, my fields had to be completely redone.Â
Curran either can't recall the actual facts of his interaction with me, is out right lying, or does not believe that a woman is able to exercise independent agency from their spouse — this implicates his lack of integrity — not my husband's.
