To The Daily Sun,

Five years ago I was diagnosed with stage three kidney cancer. The tumor had already grown to about the size of the left kidney itself and was millimeters away from entering the body's main blood stream. I would then have been considered to be in stage four, which has a dismal 5-year survival rate. Research has been making headway and improving the odds against this and many other cancers, but Dartmouth and others are now voicing concern over federal funding cuts. I’m sure almost everyone has friends or family that could be affected by this.

This is yet another reason why I will be taking every opportunity to fight back against Donnie, DOGE, and Elon.

If Republicans at the federal, state, and even the local county level ever stop to wonder why the tides of approval are quickly changing, I could provide one possible answer. It’s because most Americans are intelligent enough to know that there is a smart way and a stupid way to go about identifying and eliminating potential government waste. From cancer research to nuclear safety to national parks to Medicaid — and even to recent cuts by our esteemed county delegation, Republicans have chosen the stupid way. And it’s not just budget cuts — it’s the treatment of our global allies, the ridiculous tariffs, the un-American approach to deportations, and so very much more.

Days ago, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the following during a speech in New Hampshire: “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They must understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”

He is absolutely right.
