To The Daily Sun,
I’m proud to double down on my Boomer eccentricities — like reading a paper from back to front; like reading a paper at all. Forget using an electronic device — it already holds a big enough chunk of my life.
Over Friday and Weekend papers, I’ll own up to being mesmerized by two articles — one by the ingenuity and tenacity of one of our middle school teachers to expand her curriculum to include financial literacy and the other for the throwback article on our World Championship Sled Dog Race.
Of course, I’ve known recent weather conditions with a cranky Mother Nature negated its appearance; but how many of us might’ve taken the time to delve even further into A. Drapcho’s substantive report on details as well as minutia.
A few years ago, I was fortunate to pick up on a Disney TV movie titled “Togo,” unaware the lead dog who endured unimaginable pain to bring a lifesaving cure to a small village at death’s door was owned by the winner of Laconia’s first race. I’ve said it in more ways than one — how proud I am of being a Laconia girl.
This bit of nostalgia strikes close to the heart when through a twist of fate, I am aligned with dogs who in their own way save the day for countless folks.
