To The Daily Sun,

As someone who was born in N.H. and has been a property owner in N.H. for over 20 years, I value the beauty and well being of the state. This is why I endorse Chris Pappas for Congress in November’s election.

This past weekend, both President Trump and National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow downplayed the significance of a U.N. report which cautioned that our climate is in grave danger and that time for remedies is running out at a frightening pace. Climate change has the potential of affecting everything in our state, including wildlife, tourism, agriculture, and general safety.

Of course, maybe this U.N. report is overstating the emergency. But what if it isn’t? What if Trump and Kudlow are wrong? Shouldn’t we be taking the warnings seriously with so much to lose?

Eddie Edwards, the Republican candidate, does not address environmental concerns on his website at all, as if they aren’t even an issue.

Chris Pappas, on the other hand, clearly understands the importance of our environment, addressing it specifically and at length on his website, stating: “New Hampshire’s way of life and economy is rooted in our coastline, lakes, mountains, forests, and natural surroundings. We should all work to leave our environment better than we found it; that means promoting clean energy, supporting environmental protection, and confronting the existential threat of climate change head-on.”

Please vote for leadership in the serious work that must take place at a national level to address the threats of climate change and vote for Chris Pappas. Despite our wishful thinking, climate change may be the most crucial issue of our time.
