To The Daily Sun,

A recent New York Times article’s headline said clearly: “Trump’s Speeches, Increasingly Angry and Rambling, Reignite the Question of Age.” The nearly 80-year-old former president’s “speeches have grown darker, harsher, longer, angrier, less focused, more profane and increasingly fixated on the past.” All signs of an aging brain. If it is getting bad now, project ahead into four years of a presidency.

The American people were ahead of The New York Times. Back in February, Fox News reported, “Eighty-six percent of Americans think Biden, 81, is too old to serve another term as president, while 62% think the same of Trump.”

That was before Joe Biden dropped out. Now compared with VP Kamala Harris, Donald Trump’s mental failings have become more apparent.

Also, back in 2020, a group of doctors and public health professors wrote in the Journal on Active Aging: “Trump does face an elevated familial risk of late onset Alzheimer’s disease” (after age 65) “as this was a major contributor to his father’s death.” Their detailed assessment of Trump and Biden was written four years ago. Trump’s mental lapses have gotten worse.

Both the experts and the people agree, Donald Trump’s cognitive slippage is troublesome. He will not step aside as Biden did. On Nov. 5, voters get to decide, they can vote for Kamala Harris, a clear headed, well-spoken candidate, or an angry old man whose mental capabilities, judging from his speech patterns and actions, are slipping rapidly.
