Andrew Sanborn: Running to represent the people of Tilton and Sanbornton

To The Daily Sun,

I'm Andrew Sanborn and I'm running to represent the people of Tilton and Sanbornton in the Statehouse. I am a ninth generation Sanborn from Sanbornton and with that I have deep roots in the community and have inherited some Yankee common sense.

I am currently chair of the Planning Board, the Capital Improvement Committee and the Master Plan Advisory Committee in Sanbornton. I am proud of the accomplishments of the Planning Board. At our recommendation, the town passed an aquifer protection ordinance, a mixed residential/commercial zone ordinance and the board continues to look for opportunities to increase affordable housing. The Capital Improvement Committee reviews more than a million dollars of capital requests for the town each year and makes recommendations to the selectboard. This board has shown the ability to effectively balance planning for the town's future capital needs with a focus on working within the tax revenue. The Master Plan Advisory Committee is currently revising the town's Master Plan. The Master Plan outlines the town's vision for future growth.

I am confident that my experience on town committees and my history of achievement provides a strong basis for working effectively and collaboratively in the Statehouse. As your representative I will focus on:

• Economic stimulus programs that will put money into the hands of the people who need it and will spend it
• Ensuring public education dollars go to the public schools and nowhere else
• Providing incentive for clean energy including solar power installations
• Feeding our children free school breakfast and lunch, this is a small investment with high dividends

I appreciate the time readers have taken to learn about me and my hopes for the future of New Hampshire. I would be honored to have a vote on Nov. 5.
