To The Daily Sun,

While I'm late responding, I feel it is important to explain to Lynn Rudmin Chong the differences of historical immigration to the U.S. versus the more recent immigration during the Biden administration.

Immigrants that helped build this country entered the U.S. predominately through Ellis Island or other legal ports of entry, were required to meet certain standards, including a health examination, and representation that they would not be a burden to the taxpaying citizens of this country. Yes, they came mostly from European countries, but that wasn't because they were denied similar access from elsewhere in the world. The current aversion to illegal immigration does not change the allowance and desire for legal immigrants into the U.S. that would meet the same standards. Opposition to the asylum claims of the millions that have entered the U.S. during the Joe Biden years is the lack of vetting to filter out those with past criminal acts, as well as the allocation of taxpayer resources to house, feed, and otherwise provide for a group of people that have bypassed the legal system and legal points of entry. The unfettered flow of immigrants with unknown character is the issue, not the color of their skin.

It's time to recognize that citizens opposed to illegal immigration are not racists, but are expressing their desire for the laws to be enforced where legal immigrants are welcomed but those that jump the line are sent home. Those willing to self-deport may apply for legal entry, just like our ancestors of all nationalities. Every modern country places limits on immigration and so must the USA.

We are not racists. We have the right to demand all immigrants are vetted, pass a health exam, learn the language, and live productive lives with legal employment.
