To The Daily Sun,

My vote in Gilmanton's election this Tuesday will be going to Mike Jean for Selectman, and I am urging other Gilmanton voters to do the same.

We have had six years of continual decline into chaos, destruction, disruption, incompetence and opaque demagoguery in the selectmen's office in Gilmanton. Tell me, what have you bought with your tax savings recently? Me neither.

Brett Currier wants to bring the management of the whole town down to the same level as the worst year the Fire Department ever had, 2003. He held that year up as his benchmark for funding that department, a year when we could not seat a chief because of the attacks and ransacking that people like him did from the Budget Committee. So the spending that year was low by its largest salary plus all the other things that a working chief would normally do to make the department function. The result? Missed calls, trouble with holding up our mutual aid commitment, busted equipment and very low morale.

Sound familiar? It will if you have done business with the selectman's office lately.

Mike Jean is a fair and honest person who has served as a selectman before in another town. He is a volunteer fireman who gives his time for many causes in the town already. It is time for someone with a new perspective to bring leadership to that board. Please go out and vote this Tuesday, and remember Mike Jean. We really need him.
