To the editor,
The terrible tragedy in Arizona on Saturday the 8th of January speaks to me of two vital issues facing residents of New Hampshire at this time. One is the ongoing concern about guns being carried in the statehouse in Concord. David Stamps, Scott Cracraft and others have written eloquently about that issue.
The other concern is the need for financial support for Genesis Behavioral Health and other mental health services in the state.
No family is guaranteed that it will never need treatment or temporary counseling for a family member who may have mental health issues. We have been reading that financial support for Genesis Behavioral Health is falling far short of that needed. In Belknap County and Southern Grafton County served by GBH, it is essential that support must be given by the state, by local town governments and by individuals who are able to contribute. Please make sure that your representatives understand this need and help us to work together to assure the strong future of Genesis.
