To the editor:

A friend and loyal listener to my radio program sent this to me Saturday, and waiting until next Saturday to share would not be fair to those depressed over “our party” here in N.H. and in D.C. and in need of a chuckle now.

“After listening to the doom and gloom about the Republican Party on your show today, you will be glad to know that the Republican Party is making a fantastic comeback! The organization leading the way is The New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women. They are sponsoring a luncheon on May 1st. Individual tickets are $50 if you aren't a member, $35 if you are. You might be thinking that the guest speaker might really have some valuable insight into how to recharge our Republican Party in order to command such ticket prices! “Well, the guest speaker is none other than: Roland Mesnier, the White House chef. I imagine his book ‘Dessert University: More Than 300 Spectacular Recipes and Essential Lessons’ will most certainly lay a course for success for our dear Party.

“This is why we are going nowhere fast. Reminds me of Nero — fiddling while Rome burns.”

The friend’s name does not matter. What does matter is the content which can be verified at "www.nhgop.org". Her words are so true and yet for most — will fall on deaf ears.

The Liberal Democrats and the "to-hell-with-the law-Republicans" in the U. S. Senate and House — along with Pres. Bush — are pushing for legislation to give amnesty to those who have entered our country "illegally". And it is a slap in the face to those who have waited to come to this great country using the legal channels available.

I believe that the Republicans in Washington think that the Hispanic vote will go to “our Party” for allowing ”illegal immigration" to those folks from Mexico.

I have to grin; this kind of thinking while turning back 12 refugees from Cuba where there is a dictator named Fidel Castro because they landed on a section of bridge off Florida that is disconnected from the end of the bridge that actually touches the United States makes no sense at all!

I wonder what message Mr. Mesnier will deliver to inspire Republicans in NH and the nation to get out the vote.
