If God really chose Trump, God is a deity unworthy of worship

To The Daily Sun,

We have two frequent writers to The Sun, “Bishop” Paul Blake and John Demankowski, who frequently claim to know perfectly the “mind of God.” Both gentlemen have assured us that a fine eatery in the area went out of business because God was punishing them for turning a former church into a restaurant. Now, in a recent letter, Mr. Demankowski tells us that Donald Trump is “God’s choice” for the Oval Office.

I don’t pretend to know the mind of the Almighty but if God chose Donald Trump because he likes Trumps words and actions, then God is a deity unworthy of worship. Trump is a narcissistic, arrogant, and emotionally troubled sociopath who will use any means to get his way. To Trump, it is not about the security and prosperity of the nation. It is all about Trump. He insults women and minorities. He has threatened his opponents. Why would anyone worship a god who approves of Donald Trump and his hateful words and actions?

But, there is another possibility. Let’s assume for a moment that Mr. Demankowski is right, that God indeed chose Donald Trump for the U.S. presidency. I would think such a student of the Bible as Mr. Demankowski would know that in the Hebrew Bible, God often punishes nations for their pride, arrogance and greed by making them suffer under bad governments. Could this be the case with Trump, Mr. Demankowski?
