To The Daily Sun,

Laconia’s 125th anniversary as a city is coming soon, and I am in the process of writing the history of the Laconia Fire Department, which I hope to publish in 2018. In 2015 I published the History of the Concord Fire Department, titled "Wherever Flames May Rage."

Thus far, I have gained great assistance from individuals and agencies throughout Laconia, including the Fire Department, city clerk, Laconia Library, Laconia Historical & Museum Society, and local historians. Even the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, MA has come through with details on a key early fire. Meredith and Gilford resources have also been most helpful.

During the research for the Concord history, many of the significant details for the book came from individual citizens, collectors, retired and current firefighters, students of local history, and others. Scrapbooks, photographs, artifacts and other memorabilia were forthcoming, as well as almost a hundred interviews with interested individuals.

So, the purpose of this letter is to seek those willing to share such information or items with me in preparation of this history. All items borrowed will be returned and given acknowledgement when the book is published. I can be reached at mrbgpb@msn.com.
