To the editor,

It is hard to see how anyone who considers themself a Democrat could think of voting for Wesley Clark.

Back in 2001 he was busy raising money for Republican candidates in Arkansas. At that time he had great praise for the foreign policy of the Bush administration, and now he criticizes them.

Clark was quoted last year in Newsweek as saying, "I would have been a Republican if Carl Rove had returned my phone calls." He admits voting for Nixon, Reagan and Bush I. He didn't even register as a Democrat until last October, several weeks after announcing for the Democratic nomination!

This smacks of political opportunism to me.

I and most of my friends are giving their support to a real Democrat, Howard Dean. What he stands for is never unclear.
