Elton John tribute concert offers respite from Motorcycle Week

"We Care" Continues to give back to the Community for the third straight year by bringing Sir Elton John to the Lakes Region. Well, almost. Sir Elton himself won't be here, but you will think you are watching and listening to him live and in person at the McEvoy Theater on the campus of the New Hampton School on June 18. What an opportunity!

Residing here in the middle of New Hampshire has its benefits as well as shortcomings. No one could ask for a prettier and a friendlier place to live, but we don't often have the opportunity to see live performances from nationally renowned artists. Well, on June 18, one of those rare opportunities will present itself.

Yellow Brick Road- A tribute to Elton John will perform at the McEvoy Theater on the campus of the New Hampton School right off of Exit 23 on Rte. 93. Tickets are $27.50 each and are available at www.tbinh.org. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. with homemade refreshments and soft drinks included in your ticket price. The music will begin at 7:45 p.m.

Yellow Brick Road is a high-energy re-enactment of everything you have ever seen or heard of Elton John's legendary staging and music will come alive for you and your friends in this tribute to a living artist.

The group's leader, Gerald Brann, is Elton John in vocal, performance and instrumental brilliance. Every detail of an actual Elton John concert is present: white piano, flamboyant tailor-made costumes, glasses and the huge range of songs. Honed to perfection and officially endorsed by the International Elton John Fan Club, this tribute band performs up and down the Eastern part of the United States, as well as performing in Las Vegas as part of the British Invasion show and with the Augusta Symphony before an audience of nearly one thousand people. Traditionally, tribute bands bring to life beloved music and musicians of the past and this rendering of Elton John's music is famed as one of the best.

The net proceeds of the performance will go to Lakes Region Community Services (www.lrcs.org), a community partner for over 40 years, offers comprehensive support and services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or acquired brain disorders and their families. LRCS is a state designated Area Agency serving residents of Belknap and Southern Grafton counties, with offices in Laconia and Plymouth.

The mission of LRCS is dedicated to the community by promoting independence, dignity and opportunity, and its comprehensive services and wide-ranging programs provide supports from birth throughout the lifespan. LRCS' Family Resource Center of Central NH is a community-based center available to anyone seeking programs, resources, activities or supports designed to strengthen families. programs and services with a primary goal of strengthening adult capacities to improve child outcomes.

Why am I telling you this? Because the "We Care" program that TBI created as a way to raise funds for important community charitable organizations, is offering the concert as a respite from the crowds and constant din of Motorcycle Week. If you are ready to be entertained and want to get away from the heavy metal sounds offered at the motorcycle venues, then come join us at the McEvoy on June 18. Sit back, enjoy the bucolic campus of the New Hampton School and the live sights and sounds of Sir Elton as performed by Yellow Brick Road.
