To the editor,
After Primary Day, after handing in our ballots, we should hand out thanks, especially to:
— All the people who staffed the polls, putting in a long day to make sure that we can exercise the precious right of voting.
— Everyone who came out to vote, knowing that the choice of nominees is fundamental to shaping the election and the issues.
After voting, I spent the day outside the polls at Leavitt Park, along with others holding signs for our favored candidates. Additional thank-you’s are owed to:
— The folks who stopped to talk with us, whether to voice support or opposition to the names on our signs.
— Especially to those who thanked us for what we were doing.
— And, to my fellow sign-men and women, including, but not limited to, Republican adversaries such as Roland and Gary Maheu, Harry Accornero, Niel Young and Judy Krahulec, for good company, good conversation, good humor and shared laughs. All of that, plus the shared experience of working for what and for who we believe in, help the time pass by enjoyably.
Election Day is less than seven weeks away. On November 2nd please make sure to vote, and if you can, join us on the “sign line.”
