To the editor,
Why aren’t senators and congressmen holding real town hall meetings to explain to concerned citizens why Obamacare is wonderful? Instead, they hide from constituents and pack the few town halls with supporters, some expecting financial benefits. They bring union thugs to intimidate and stop people from expressing their views. They make false claims, e.g., of Obamacare popularity, and misleading claims, e.g., about 47-million supposedly uninsured. They call opponents selfish, uncaring, and paid opponents, but they don’t answer the objections. President Obama even asks supporters to report opponents to the White House!
Obamacare opponents discuss the legislation itself, supporters’ statements, and the outcomes of other well-intended legislation. Opponents are concerned about health care for themselves and others, about making radical and unnecessary changes to our superior health care system, and about taking away people’s freedom.
President Obama promises much. But, if you are over 60 and you have not learned that glowing political promises result in costly programs with major unintended and often counter-productive consequences, then perhaps you deserve the pain killer that Obamacare will give you instead of the heart operation, cancer treatment, or knee or hip replacement that you need.
