To the editor:
Unbiased leadership.
It was with dismay that I found out Cydney Johnson and Loring Carr had decided not to run for the Alton School Board. In the two and a half years I have worked with them on the Prospect Mountain School Board I have learned so much. The degree of professionalism, honesty and knowledge they bring to that board cannot be described in simple words. Through Cydney Johnson’s leadership as chairperson on the PMHS board, we no longer think of our students as Alton or Barnstead but rather as Prospect Mountain students. She has also had the task of representing the board for three years as chair. Not always a popular position to be in and has also had to take a lot of heat and criticism from the few. Loring Carr’s vast knowledge of building issues has tremendously helped to protect our $19-plus million investment. Most of this has been done behind the scenes. I will also state that to the contrary to the many articles in regards to the stalling of the school sign, Loring was a driving force for many months prior to all the publicity to get the sign designed and erected. Sometimes those who are less vocal about their accomplishments tend to get overlooked in the big picture. I can only hope that both Cydney Johnson and Loring Carr reconsider and start a Write in campaign. I have certainly appreciated their leadership.
