LACONIA — A former Belmont woman who had 17 bags of crack cocaine for sale in a rented room at a downtown hotel in August will serve one to 3 years in the N.H. State Prison for Women.

Valene Colby, 32, pleaded guilty yesterday to one count of possession of a narcotic drug with intent to distribute it.

She was arrested on August 12 in her hotel room by Laconia Police after they learned of her activities.

Colby was credited with 157 days of pre-trial credit. A fine of $1,000 was suspended pending five years of good behavior. She must also get a substance abuse evaluation within 45 days of her release from prison.
