Gilford Fire and Rescue crews carry an unknown victim of a single-vehicle crash on Cherry Valley Road to an awaiting ambulance Monday afternoon. The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. and traffic was slowed through the road while police and fire personnel worked to free the victims who was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said the accident is still under investigation but believe speed may have also played a role. The 28-year-old woman is expected to survive. Police said the car traveled off the road, brushed off a number of trees and was tilting on its side. Passerby's, including an off-duty police officer, helped hold the vehicle upright until firefighters arrives. (Gail Ober/Laconia Daily Sun.)
