LACONIA - Two adults and their dog are homeless following a fire that greatly damaged their home on Saturday morning.
The fire at 70 Winnisquam Ave. was heavy when firefighters arrived, burning on both floors. According to a press release from the Laconia Fire Department, a neighboring house also caught fire and a second neighboring house also suffered heat damage. Much of the fire was extinguished by a smaller than usual crew. One firefighter was injured and treated at Laconia Regional General Hospital.
Damage to the home is estimated at in excess of $100,000, with neighboring homes expected to have about $10,000 in damages.
The Red Cross Disaster Action Team has met with the residents and made sure they have a safe place to sleep, and that they have food, clothing and other essentials.
No cause for the fire has yet been determined.
