A tractor-trailer full of cardboard caught fire while driving down Lake Shore Road in Gilford Thursday, causing part of the roadway to be closed to traffic. According to Gilford firefighter Rick Andrews, the initial call came in at 3:29 p.m. on Sept. 4, about a fire on Lake Shore. Two engines and a tanker from Gilford, an engine from Laconia Fire Department and a forestry vehicle responded to the scene. No cause had been determined as of Thursday evening. Andrews said the driver of the tractor-trailer noticed the fire and pulled over into the breakdown lane near Liscomb Circle. Some cardboard fell off the trailer into the road, leading Gilford police to close the road between the two entrances to Walmart. The fire was knocked down quickly, and no other damage was reported to property or vehicles.
