A Chair Dance event, led by Paula Wanzer, engaged active retired participants in the Sassy Step and Stretch program at the Meredith Public Library on Wednesday morning. Sassy Step, primarily for people age 55 and over, is an interactive exercise program that includes a combination of different methods of movement. Wanzer encourages participants to suggest exercises they would like to do. Popular moves include those with stretchy bands or wands, line dancing, balance and flexibility exercises, and strength and core training. “We’re interested in being playful and creative and not taking exercise too serious,” Wanzer said. “It's therapeutic. It's community."
